PIRNA - SCHILL+SEILACHER SAXOL GMBH.
FROM MANUFACTURER OF CHEMICAL SPECIALTIES FOR LEATHER PROCESSING TO GLOBAL PLAYER IN THE PRODUCTION OF INDUSTRIAL PROCESS ADDITIVES.
In 1877, Karl Schill and Christoph Seilacher began manufacturing chemical specialties for leather rocessing in Heilbronn. In 1925, another production facility was opened in Hamburg to meet the rowing demand and at the same time to take advantage of the international seaport to export the goods worldwide.
After World War II, Schill+Seilacher moved production from Heilbronn to the city of Böblingen, a suburb of Stuttgart. With the two Schill+Seilacher production sites in Hamburg and Böblingen, the company now serves - independently of each other - a wide variety of industries. The development of the North American market began in 1979 with the founding of the Struktol Company of America, which is located in the center of the American rubber industry near Akron, Ohio. Through this plant, the American plastics, rubber and tire industries are served. In 1990, the Schill+Seilacher Group gained another member, Schill+Seilacher Chemie GmbH in Pirna, near Dresden on the Elbe River. This plant serves as a general production site and as a development center for the silicone chemistry sector.
